Beach life is the life for me!
My husband and I are absolutely hooked on beach getaways! Combine that with our love for travel, and you’ll find us constantly searching for our next oceanfront destination. Over the years, we’ve been fortunate enough to explore beaches around the world.
There’s something about standing on the sand and gazing out at the ocean that always brings me closer to my Creator. The sheer vastness of the sea fills me with awe and wonder—each time—followed by a deeper understanding of God’s infinite power and goodness. It’s a feeling I experience every time I’m by the water.
Chasing those moments has led us to vacation in numerous oceanside cities along the East and West Coasts of the U.S. We’ve been blessed to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii, South America, and various parts of Europe, including Greece. And the list doesn’t stop there—we’ve explored the beaches of Bermuda, Mexico, and some of the most breathtaking Caribbean islands, like Turks and Caicos, Aruba, Curacao, St. Martin, The Bahamas, and Jamaica.
We found the perfect escape
After traveling extensively, we’ve come to realize that each coastal destination offers its own unique beauty and special reasons to visit. While we agree that the Caribbean is home to some of the most incredible beaches, our absolute favorite beach getaway is right here close to home—Panama City Beach, FL!
What we love most about it is that it’s only a four-hour drive from our home in South Atlanta. This makes it easy for us to visit frequently without the added cost of airfare, and it’s the perfect spot for quick weekend road trips. Lucky southerners
Luckily for us Southerners, we have our own slice of beach paradise just down the road along the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, TripAdvisor awarded Panama City Beach a Best of the Best award in 2023 and ranked it among the top beaches in the United States. And the best part? It’s a drivable distance!
From Georgia, in just a few short hours, you can find all the sun, sand, and fun you need to get your beach fix. For most of the Southeast, it’s close enough for a quick weekend getaway, but there’s so much to do that you’ll definitely want to stay longer!
A dream come true
I was in high school the first time I visited Panama City Beach with friends. Growing up, our family trips were mostly to the East Coast, so we’d always visit Daytona Beach—another amazing spot, but quite different from Panama City. At that time in my life, other than a 7th-grade train trip to Washington, D.C., I hadn’t even visited a state that didn’t border Georgia!
Seeing that solid white sand and clear blue waters for the first time took my breath away. (I feel like Kelly Clarkson’s song Breakaway would have been playing in my head had she not been four years old at that time.)
On my first visit, I remember looking up and seeing the high rise condos and imagining what it would feel like to own one. It was a dream I couldn’t shake. So now 35 years later after God finally made that dream a reality, I hold Our Perch by the Pier and our Cast -a-Waves condo very close to my heart.

If you have never visited Panama City, you don't know what you are missing
In our little beachside gem, there’s truly something for everyone! If fine dining is your thing, Panama City Beach has you covered. If your family prefers local seafood, you’ll find plenty of fresh, delicious options to savor.
Love to shop while on vacation? You’ll find amazing shops and local boutiques to explore and you will probably want to take a trip to the nearby Pier Park.
