Remember Her
I sat at my computer writing those words with uncontrollable tears streaming down my face and chin and an unbearable physical pain in my chest. The words were blurry as I tried to make out exactly what I was writing. Even I wasn’t sure of the words I was typing.
It was the most difficult time of my life. Planning my mother’s celebration of life laid heavy on my heart and even heavier on my shoulders.
I wrote Remember Her to honor her in that celebration. It was printed in the service program. I wanted to remind everyone that was hurting that she was resting and at peace.
I needed to be reminded myself in order to get through it. And most importantly, I needed to find gratitude in that moment. I need to remember all of the things for which I was thankful.
And those words truly did comfort me and those around me.
And now, friend, in your time of tremendous grief and undeniable sadness, I want to share this with you.
May these words be a reminder to you that she is at peace and is resting in the arms of our savior. And although you have an unimaginable void haunting your every moment, may you find a little peace in being reminded that she took care to leave your heart full of love, your mind full of advice, and your life full of cherished memories.
And most importantly, I want you to know that although you feel abandoned, you are not alone.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11: 28-20
